Wildfires in Spain - Favorable Evolution in Castilla y Leon

View of the fire on August 22, 2025, in Argayo, Leon, Castilla y Leon (Spain). Helped by falling temperatures and milder weather than in recent days, firefighting services, both regional and arrived from other communities and other EU countries, are managing to gain ground to fires ravaging Castilla y Leon for weeks, where they have already been grazed by the flames about 149,426 hectares, 41 percent of those affected throughout the country, according to the latest figure provided by Copernicus information system to which Europa Press has had access. All in all, Castilla y Leon continues to fight 25 uncontrolled fires, eight of them with a Potential Severity Index (IGR) 2, another four of grade 1 and thirteen more active, that is, in level 0, with the province of Leon at the head in terms of severity of the fires, with a total of four (Llamas de la Cabrera, Barniedo de la Reina, Gestoso and Colinas del Campo Martín Moro), followed by Zamora (Porto) and Palencia (Cardano de Arriba) 08/23/2025 , on August 22, 2

Spain Gripped by Violent Wildfires

View of the burned land, on August 17, 2025, in Soto de Viñuelas, Tres Cantos, Madrid (Spain). The real explanation is not "so miraculous": this tree is the only one in the area that provides shade for cattle, and cows usually take refuge there. In doing so, they eat the vegetation and trample the ground, leaving the land bare of grass. This natural clearing of the ground acted as a firebreak, preventing the flames from reaching the tree and saving both the cows and the small green patch around it, while the whole environment burned. It is a symbol of hope after the tragedy of the fire that devastated Tres Cantos last August 11, but it also serves to raise awareness of the importance of grazing and forest management to avoid such destructive forest fires. China: Giant Fireball Lights Up Night Sky as Suspected Meteor Falls in Guangdong

This is the rare moment that a suspected meteor streaked across the sky in Guangdong, dazzling local residents as a massive fireball suddenly lit up the darkness like daylight. On May 28, 2025, in Yangjiang, Guangdong, a loud boom was heard as a brilliant fireball, resembling a giant rock, tore through the sky and exploded in a bright flash, captured on dashcam. The sudden blaze turned the entire night sky into near-daylight for a few seconds, and onlookers were left stunned. Experts explained that such fireballs occur when a meteoroid enters Earth’s atmosphere and burns up due to friction, creating a bright meteor. If parts of the object survived the fiery descent and reached the ground, they were classified as meteorites. The video ended with the sky gradually fading back into darkness as the fireball disappeared from view.
